Some Useful Pre-Pharmacy Documents and Links PrePharmacy Synopsis This one-page document gives an overview of pharmacy as a career, of the pre-pharmacy program at MSUM, of the time-line that it takes to complete a pharmacy program, (normally 7 or 8 years total to achieve the doctorate, including 3 or 4 in college and 4 in Pharmacy School), of the flexibility associated with a pharmacy program, of the normal standards of admission for pharmacy school, and of the career opportunities in pharmacy. The "time-line" includes 4 years at pharmacy school (the last being a clinical, not classroom), and typically 3 or 4 years at MSUM. Pre-Pharmacy Chemistry Degree Class Schedule This one-page document gives a schedule for completing pre-pharmacy requirements while earning a Chemistry B.A. Degree with Emphasis in Biological Chemistry. The program is designed so that the majority of explicitly pre-pharmacy courses are taken during the first 2-3 years. Thus a student can take the Pharmacy College Admission Test during or before their junior year, and perhaps be admitted into a Pharmacy College after their junior year without having completed a college degree. Pre-Pharmacy Biology Degree Class Schedule This one-page document gives a schedule for completing pre-pharmacy requirements while earning a Biology B.A. Degree with Emphasis in Health and Medical Sciences. List of Explicit Pre-Pharmacy Math-Science Courses Admissions Factors at U of M and NDSU This two-page document details some of the specific factors that impact acceptance into pharmacy school at the U of M and NDSU; lists the average GPA (3.75 and 3.85); lists the starting salary for recent graduates (>$80K for U of M grads in 2006); mentions residency requirements (non-factor at U of M, huge huge factor at NDSU); mentions the early admissions process at U of M (much higher acceptance rate...); and some other miscellany. Occupational Outlook This links to a government website giving a thorough overview of occupational considerations regarding pharmacy, including salary information.
