DNS Hosting Policy
MSU Moorhead may provide domain name service (DNS) to campus departments, recognized campus organizations and campus employees. MSU Moorhead may provide DNS to affiliated organizations, whose missions support the University, and are sponsored by a University department. The purpose of the domain must be consistent with the mission of the University.
Each domain must have an employee of MSU Moorhead designated as the responsible individual for the maintenance of the domain, and information and/or service provided by the domain.
The home page of the domain site must include the phrase “hosted by Minnesota State University Moorhead”. A contact person and a valid e-mail address must be included on each page of the domain site.
The University retains the right to disable the site if any University, MnSCU, State or Federal policies or laws are violated. The University retains the right to review all material and information on each supported site.
An application for DNS must be submitted and will remain on file in the Information Technology Department. Any changes must be promptly reported to the Information Technology Department.
The University may charge the sponsoring department, organization or employee for any costs related to maintenance and service of their DNS.
The domain must be registered with a domain registrar. MSU Moorhead Information Technology Department must be listed as the technical contract with the domain registrar.
An appropriate chair, director, dean or vice president must approve all domain applications.
