Minnesota State University Moorhead is enrolled in the Symantec Value License Program through a special agreement negotiated by the MnSCU system office. This agreement provides the university with renewable rights to install Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition on our campus computers.
The Value License Program gives the university the right to install and run the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition software on all university-owned computers for the length of the contract. It also allows university employees to run the software on home computers under certain conditions.
Under the Value License Program, permanent university employees may install one copy of the software on a laptop or home computer provided employee's primary use of that computer is work-related.

Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition requires specific computer resources and may not run well on older computers. The Symantec system requirements are available online.
The software installation is defined by your operating system. If you attempt to install the software on a computer that does not meet the Symantec specifications, you virus protection may not work.
Installing Symantec Antivirus on your computer is only the first step to protecting your computer from virus infection. You must update the virus software regularly, to maintain the protection. We recommend that you run the LiveUpdate utility once a week to maintain your virus protection. Complete instructions are printed on the instruction sheet you will receive when you check out the software.
Symantec Antivirus software is installed on each new computer. Campus installations are set to update automatically each time the computer is started. If you have concerns that your antivirus software is not updating, email support@mnstate.edu or call the Information Technology Department. Additional information is available online.
You may check out the software from the Information Technology Department AFTER you complete an Employee Users Acceptance form. Complete instructions for checkout are online.
The Employee Users Acceptance form is available online as a printable-pdf file or you may pick one up from the Information Technology Department.
Support for home computers will be limited to allowing you to checkout the CD again to reinstall the software.
