Defining a Major Computer Problem

If you have a major computer problem in the evening and/or on weekends, you can report the problem to Campus Security.  Campus Security will notify the Information Technology staff of the computer problem.  Campus Security will ask for your name, phone number, location of the problem and general description of the problem. 

Examples of MAJOR computer problems that should be reported to Campus Security are:

  1. A computer server appears to be down.
  2. A web server appears to be down.
  3. MNSCU1 and/or web registration appears to be down.
  4. E-mail is not working.
  5. PALS is not working.
In other words, only report problems to Campus Security which have a serious impact on University work.

Computer problems that do not have a serious impact on University work should be reported via the form linked at the bottom of this page. Some examples of problems to report on the form are:

  1. One computer in a lab will not connect to the network but the rest are working.
  2. One of the printers is out of order but you can print to a different printer.
  3. A disk is stuck in a disk drive.
