    Election Procedure

    Candidate Requirements

    Candidate must be a full time student (8 credits for graduate, 12 credits for undergraduate) of MSUM for at least two semesters. To run for an office, a student must hold a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the undergraduate level and 3.0 at the graduate level. All the officers are required to serve the term for one full year.

    Campaigning Procedures

    The present officers are responsible for publicizing the upcoming elections on campus. Nominations for the officers will be open at the first club meeting in April. Nominations will be open for one week. Students will be nominated at the club meeting or may sign up by sending an email to ISO. Each person may run for one position only. After nominations close, the campaigning will begin and will last for one week. Students will vote ONLINE through the ISO website or by secret ballot at the International Programs office. Voting will be open for one week. At the second meeting in April, students may start campaigning for Committee Chairs. Elections for the Committee Chairs will be held on the last meeting of the year.

    Officers

    The executive board of ISO at MSUM shall consist of:

    • President
      • Presides over all club meetings.
      • Establishes dates for such meetings and elections.
      • Prepares the agenda for the meetings in cooperation with the executive board.
      • Guides the activities of the club.
      • Responsible for promoting the ISO image across the campus.
       
    • Vice President
      • To encourage and obtain active participation from the students on campus.
      • To assist the president in the operations of the organization.
      • To conduct the meeting in the absence of the president.
      • To accept the responsibilities delegated by the president.
      • Responsible for promoting the ISO image across the campus.
       
    • Secretary
      • To record the official minutes of all meetings.
      • To keep a copy of minutes in the International Programs Office.
      • To accept the responsibilities as delegated by the president.
      • To maintain an up-to-date copy of the club's constitution and by-laws.
      • To be responsible for implementing the constitution, by-laws, and guidelines of the ISO at MSUM.
      • Responsible for promoting the ISO image across the campus.
       
    • Treasurer
      • To manage the club's budget by keeping records of incomes and expenditures.
      • To report to the membership to current state of the budget at each meeting.
      • To determine if the club has adequate funding for activities.
      • To assist in creating the budget and requesting funds for the following year.
      • To accept responsibilities as delegated by the president.
      • Responsible for promoting the ISO image across the campus.
       
    • Event Coordinator
      • To organize and manage all ISO events in cooperation with the president.
      • To setup a budget for the events in cooperation with the treasurer.
      • To recruit volunteers to help with the events.
      • To advertise for the events.
      • To accept responsibilities as delegated by the president.
      • Responsible for promoting the ISO image across the campus.
       
    • Webmaster
      • To manage & update the club's website.
      • To check the club's email account & send emails to the members.
      • To update the website's database of members.
       

    The executive board must consist of members from different countries so that no one country shall be dominant. The term of office shall be one year. No officer shall hold the same office for more that one year. Minnesota State University Moorhead requires a minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA for all officers.

    Issues of Equal Opportunity and Student Conduct must be addressed by the officers at the initial meeting. Thereafter, all members shall be responsible for knowing and abiding by there policies.
