International Diplomats

This section will hold the names, photos and contact information of the International Diplomats, in addition to the previous Diplomats.

Who are the Diplomats?

Diplomats are volunteer peer advisors who assist new international students through orientation, registration, and the first semester at MSUM. Diplomats have the experience and understand what it is like to be new in a new country. They, also, undergo a two day intensive training including cross-cultural and leadership training.

What is the Diplomat Program?

It is a unique program designed to assist new international students at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Returning international students and students who have studied abroad combine their talents and experiences to become Diplomats for new international students.

This is an opportunity for both international students and U.S. students to share their own culture while learning about the other. Diplomats are an excellent resource for international students during their adjustment to U.S. university life. Diplomats serve as "cultural informants", answering a variety of questions concerning everyday life. In return for their assistance, Diplomats have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and experience intercultural communication skill-building first hand.

This program promotes intercultural interaction and encourages participants to become more accepting of diverse cultures which is vital in an increasingly interdependent world.
