International students with an F-1 or J-1 (student) visa will be granted in-state tuition beginning their first semester.  If a 2.5 grade point average for undergraduate students and a 3.0 grade point average for graduate students is maintained , students will continue to be eligible for in-state tuition.

Eligibility for In-state Tuition

  • be an international student in your first year at Minnesota State University Moorhead
  • maintain GPA of 2.5 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate) for returning students
  • maintain status with US Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Department of Homeland Security
  • maintain full-time status (12 credits a semester for undergraduate, 8 credits a semester for graduate)

This rate is only valid for up to 3% of the total student enrollment.  This policy may be changed or suspended at any time by the Board of Directors.

Financial Aid

Minnesota State University Moorhead does not offer any financial aid for international students.

Scholarships

International students are encouraged to apply for any university and department scholarships for which they are eligible. Most of these scholarships require attendance at MSUM prior to application.
