A freshman student is a student starting university for the first time or is transferring with less than 12 university credits. Usually the student is enrolling directly out of secondary school with no previous university experience.
A student who is coming to MSUM from another university (whether based within the United States or not) and is transferring in 12 university credits or more is considered a transfer student. The transfer student may be transferring in credits from a university from outside the U.S. or an accreditated university/college from within the U.S.
A student who has obtained the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree and is planning on pursuing education beyond the Bachelor's degree at the Master's level should apply as a graduate student. (Previous degree students who wish to add an additional undergraduate major should apply as a transfer student.)
