13.1 Scope
The library will select, maintain and service periodicals which support the instructional and research needs of the institution.
The criteria which influence the selection of periodical materials are:
- Judged usefulness of the publication, in relation to the existing collection and the curriculum.
- Ease of bibliographic access.
- Availability through the Tri-College Consortium and MINITEX system.
- Observed intensity of request and/or use.
- Copyright considerations.
- Budgetary limitations.
- Online availability.
13.2 Browsing Collection
The Browsing Collection exists to provide more convenient access to periodicals drawn from the regular collection.
The collection consists of mass circulation, popular interest, domestic and foreign general news magazines and newspapers, and journals of general interest in the disciplines offered at Moorhead State University. The inclusion or exclusion of a title from the collection should not be interpreted as an endorsement or a condemnation of the publication.
