Saving an rtf file

Documents are saved in rtf (rich text format) so that you can open the text with all versions of any word processor and on any computer operating system:
  1. Create a document in any word processing application program: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, Notepad, etc
  2. Go to File Save As

  3. Look at the choices in FileFormat (or Save as Type)

  4. Select Rich Text Format
    NOTE:  Mac users need to add the extension .rtf
