Email in D2L:

Email is most commonly used to communicate privately with your instructor and classmates.  You can only send email out from your online course.  You will use your external email account, such as your MSUM account, to receive email.  You can email while logged into your course by clicking on the email link in the upper navigation bar.

Change your D2L email address:

Check your current email before you use D2L mail

To email from within a D2L course: Click on the Email tool in the course Navigation Bar and select Address Book.  Select your course from the dropdown menu and select specifically who you would like to email.  The names are in alphabetical order and it is marked whether they are a student or a teacher. DO NOT select All Contacts as an email will be sent to all students in the system.

  • To email one or more members of the course, put a check by their name and click either the To, Cc, or Bcc button. Add a Subject and message and click Send.

  • To email all members of the course including the instructor, put a check in the upper left corner. This adds a check to all members of the course (Remove any checks, if necessary). Click on either the To, Cc, or Bcc button, add a Subject and message, and click send.

  • You MUST CLICK ADD RECIPIENTS to add them to your email message.  You are now ready to write and send your message.
