REVIEW QUESTIONS
1) Briefly describe the French secular poetry set by Du Fay and his contemporaries.  What are these poems about?  How do these poets use language?
2) Describe the evolution of Du Fay's (and his contemporaries') compositional style from the 1420s to the 1450s.  Be sure to discuss mensuration, rhythm, texture and cadences.
3) Discuss the debate about the performance practice of French secular songs of the late medieval and early Renaissance periods.
4) How is Binchois's compositional style different from Du Fay's?
