  • Spring 2013 Move-In

    General Information

    • The Residence Halls re-open on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 12 noon. Please go directly to the residence hall front desk in which you are assigned to receive your keys (directional signs will be posted on doors). Room assignments and roommate contact information can be found online in your E-services account under Housing and Dining.
    • Our hall front desks will be open during the following times for move-in (normal desk hours resume Monday, January 14):
      • Friday, January 11: Noon to 10pm
      • Saturday, January 12: 10am to 10pm
      • Sunday, January 13: 10am to Midnight
    • If you arrive when the front desk is closed, please call the phone number posted at the main entrances and desks for assistance.
    • Please bring a current photo ID with you to get your room keys and know your Dragon ID number and vehicle license plate number (if parking on campus).
    • It is suggested to bring your own cart or dolly if you have one; a limited number will be available at each hall desk to check-out using an ID card.
    • Please note that West Ballard and Holmquist Halls do not have elevators. Please pack accordingly.
    • Your meal plan will begin with the evening meal on Friday, January 11.
    • Please do NOT park your car in the fire lanes, along yellow curbs, reserved/handicap spaces, and in the posted no parking zones to unload your vehicle. You will be ticketed by Public Safety or the City of Moorhead. Rather, all posted loading zone green curbs and residence hall meter spaces are being designated as 15-minute unloading zones from January 11 to January 13. During this time period you may park in these spaces for up to 15 minutes to unload your vehicle without paying the meter. In addition, one can park in any non-reserved space in the general parking lots surrounding the residence halls. Parking enforcement in the general parking lots will resume at 12 noon on Monday, January 14.
    • If you plan to have a vehicle on campus, follow the link at the bottom to MSUM’s Parking website for information about parking permits. You need to first register your vehicle online and can then pick up your parking permit at the Public Safety Building the next business day.

    Public Safety Items To Complete

Personal information can be provided in advance to Public Safety that allows them the ability to best alert and protect you in case of an emergency. Please explore the following forms here.

    • Emergency Contact Information: In the event that you are reported missing, the confidential emergency contact you provide on this form will be used by Public Safety in an attempt to locate you.
    • Personal Property Registration System: This system allows you to register any valuable personal property items with Public Safety in the event that something should happen.
    • E2Campus: This is an emergency notification service that allows MSUM the ability to communicate health and safety emergency information quickly to the email address or cell phone number you provide them.

    Renter's Insurance

We strongly encourage our students to pursue renters insurance. You may arrange for renter's insurance through your own insurance company. MSUM does not insure personal belongings in student rooms. While we hope students will never need to file a renter's insurance claim, it is important to be prepared just in case.

    MicroFridge Rental

A limited number of microfridges (combination refrigerator, freezer, and microwave) will be available for rental on a first come first serve basis. They are $75 per semester. Please contact or go to the Housing and Residential Life Office in Ballard Hall 120 for more information.
