Application

At Minnesota State University Moorhead, learning is a process not confined to classroom and laboratories, and residence hall living is more than studying and sleeping. Living in residence hall s and meeting people with similar and varying backgrounds and interests is part of your education. Student government activities, cultural and recreational programs and community service projects are encouraged in the residence halls as highly significant opportunities for learning.

Provided as links are the brochure, “Choosing Your Residence Hall”, the residence hall application and contract. Please read them carefully , and use the brochure to learn more about the various halls and meal plans . If you decide to live in a residence hall, please complete both sides of the application and sign the contract. Return these with the $50.00 non-refundable application fee and your $300 prepayment (the full amount of $350.00 is required before we make any room assignment). Refer to section 5.A1 and 2 a-d in the contract for more complete information. (If you are completing and submitting the contract on line, the use of your MSUM PIN number will serve as a written signature. We will still need to receive the $350 before we can make an assignment; this can be done on line by use of a credit card number (specify the type card, the name to be billed as it appears on the card and its expiration date).

The first group of new student assignments is usually made on or before April 15. You may wish to apply early to improve your chances of being assigned to one of your preferred locations. In this case, you must submit the full $350 deposit and pre-payment so it is received in our office or postmarked no later than March 15. For contracts submitted after March 15, the full $350 must accompany the contract. After April 15, assignments will be made on a weekly basis by date priority as space becomes available.

Please make your check or money order payable to Minnesota State University Moorhead and send to the Housing and Residential Life Office. When we receive your application, we will send you a card confirming its receipt. If you do not receive such a confirmation card within 30 days, be sure to contact us. Please remember that full payment of the $50 reservation fee and $300 prepayment must be received before we will make a specific assignment.

This year's current rates for each semester are listed on the rates/dates sheet found by clicking on Current Rates. You will receive an updated version reflecting next year's rates with a future mailing from our office.

As the residence halls are designed to accommodate only a limited number of students and requests may exceed the space available, we encourage you to make application without delay to help enhance our ability to place you in one of your hall preferences. Please understand that space may no longer be available in your preferred halls when your assignment is made.

If I or any of my staff may be of assistance, please contact us by letter, call us at (218) 477-2118, or e-mail us at reslife@mnstate.edu.

Sincerely,
Beth Conner
Director, Housing and Residential Life
