Minnesota State University Moorhead is seeking comments from the public about the University in preparation for its periodic re-accreditation. The University will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit by a team representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, scheduled for March 5-7, 2007. MSUM has been accredited by the HLC since 1948. The HLC is one of six accrediting agencies in the United States that provides institutional accreditation on a regional basis.

Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs and must be in writing and signed. Comments cannot be treated as confidential.

The accreditation process evaluates an entire institution and accredits it as a whole. Other agencies provide accreditation for specific programs. Accreditation is voluntary. The HLC, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, accredits approximately 1100 institutions of higher learning in a 19-state region.
