What is ‘Reproductive Health’?

Reproductive health is assistance in managing your sex life and pregnancies.  Often people seek contraception (birth control) to help space children.  Lots of people do not want children, at least not yet, and use birth control for the recreational aspect of sex….without the fear of pregnancy.

  • Health care for reproductive concerns focuses on:
  •  breasts
  •  vagina/penis (genital) health
  •  ovarian and uterine function
  •  testicular health

Is Sex the same as Sexuality?
We usually think of sex as an act of intercourse or genital/oral/anal contact.
Sexuality includes:

  • sexual knowledge
  • beliefs
  • attitudes
  • values and behaviors of individuals including:
  • identity
  • orientation
  • roles
  • personality
  • thoughts
  • feelings
  • relationships

Your sexuality is influenced by ethical, religious/spiritual beliefs, cultural attitudes and beliefs, and morals.  For most men and women it is their attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that influence their sexual activity, use of safer sex practices (condoms, dental dams, etc…),use of birth control methods, and their ability to use the birth control/safer sex practices properly.
