| What is it? Emergency Contraception (EC) can be taken after sex in order to prevent pregnancy. It is most commonly used after having unprotected sex. Plan B is the only brand specifically approved for the purposes of EC. Plan B contains a highly concentrated dose of the hormone progesterone.
