The services of the Student Health Center integrate health promotion, education for prevention of disease and clinical treatment of illness. All currently enrolled students who have paid an activity fee are eligible for the services of Hendrix Health Center. |
Services include:
Non-Emergent, ambulatory care for health maintenance, such as:
immunization, allergy injections, annual gynecological examination, STD and HIV screening, treatment of minor illness, consultation, referral for services not available on site, e.g. X-ray, emergency trauma care, surgery, specialty exams. Charges at the referral sites are the responsibility of the patient.
Health promotion and counseling to support healthy lifestyles and personal wellness are available free of charge. Health Center staff, working with student Peer Health Educators, are available to facilitate presentations and organize campus health promotion campaigns on a wide variety of topics.
Laboratory services performed at the Health Service include: routine blood counts, urinalysis, throat cultures, STD cultures, pregnancy test. Charges are at a reduced rate and due at the time of service. Insurance forms for reimbursement are completed and available at time of service. The samples for tests which cannot be done in the Health Service are sent to a larger facility in the community.
Pharmacy fills prescriptions from any licensed physician. The prices charged for prescriptions are typically lower than those at the local pharmacies. Non-prescriptive items are also available and at a reduced cost. Pharmacy is able to file your insurance claims electronically. Students must present an insurance card or a copy of the card. Health insurance is encouraged for all students and is available through the Minnesota State University Student Health Plan. This can be purchased direct, or through the MSUM business office prior to the final fee payment day each semester. Forms for reimbursement of any lab or treatment charges will be completed and given to the patient at the day of the visit.
Rape/Abuse/Dating Violence counseling is free and available by appointment. This confidential counseling service is for students who are physical or emotional victims, or secondary victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse, or dating violence.
Alcohol/Chemical Health counseling is also available free to students with alcohol and substance-related problems. Services include chemical dependency evaluations, individual counseling, relapse prevention and "adult children of alcoholics" groups.
