Health and Wellness Student Advisory Committee (HSWAC)
The Health and Wellness Student Advisory Committee (HSWAC) is appointed by the President and is recognized by Hendrix Health Center as the student voice in matters regarding the student health services.
What does HSWAC do?
HSWAC is a student advisory board consisting of sixteen members. These members include an appointed member from Student Senate, health center honors apprentice, one student appointed by committee on committees, three employees of the Dragon Wellness Center and three peer educators. HSWAC committee members are interested in health awareness and health promotion.
Duties of the Student Advisory Committee include:
- Serving as an informal contact between the Hendrix Health Center and the MSUM student body.
- Assisting with the development of long and short-term campus health services policy and reviewing the annual budget.
- Assisting the HHC director in advertising the programs and services offered by the HHC.
- Directing recommendations to the Director of Student Health Service for review and implementation
- Making recommendations for improving the general level of health promotion activities at the University
Individual member responsibility:
- Represent the needs, opinions, and ideas of particular groups within the University
- Consider the overall needs of the University community
- Be open-minded about the issues brought before SHAC and be willing to critically discuss these issues
- Be an Active, involved, and contributing member of the committee
- Answer questions about Hendrix Health Center
Meetings:
HSWAC meets twice each semester unless the need for more meetings arises.
