Parent Information
Services
- MSUM and Minnesota State Community and Technical College students are fortunate to have a full-service health care clinic located on campus. Like your hometown clinic, we refer all emergent care to the local hospital emergency rooms - 10 minutes by car. The local ambulance service is located 3 blocks from campus.
- The Hendrix Health Center is accredited by the American Ambulatory Association for Health Care.
- The laboratory and the pharmacy meet all standards for state licensure and national certification.
- We have a full-time Family Practice physician and a full-time nurse practitioner for patient care.
- The health center is open on all days classes are in session, 8:00-4:30.
- Summers hours are reduced.
- After hours care options are on the telephone messaging system. Students have many options for hospitals and clinics in the FM area.
Costs
- All MSUM registered students who have paid an activity fee are entitled to recieve the services of Hendrix Health Center. There are reduced rate charges for laboratory and some treatments which are due at the time of a visit. Students may use a charge card.
- The Health Center will complete and provide a form for you to file for reimbursement of these charges to you by your private insurer.
- Use of the Health Center pharmacy is like any retail location. Students present their insurance card and the co-pay. Our pharmacy files the rest of the claim electronically at the time of the visit.
Confidentiality
- The information provided to the health center by students who have reached their 18th birthday is protected by law. We are not allowed to share this information to you by phone or mail without the student's written consent.
- Please be assured, in the event of a major illness or injury, where the student is unable to give consent, we will make every effort to locate you and inform you of the circumstances.
Insurance
- It is very important for students to have an insurance card (or copy of the original) to use the Health Center pharmacy, or any other local clinic, pharmacy or hospital.
- The Health Center pharmacy accepts your co-pay and files claims electronically like any retail service you are accustomed to using.
- Pharmacy may not accept all insurances.
Reminder:
- Reduced rate charges are made for laboratory testing and some treatments such as wart removal, ear irrigation and supplies such as crutches, ace bandages etc.
- An insurance form that you can file for reimbursement from your private insurance will be completed and available at the time of visit.
