Question 2
Please provide any written information that you would like me to consider in thinking about ways to improve the course and help students learn more effectively.
Response 1 The first paper was a little daunting in that the second part of the assignment was a bit much. The explication of the quote very useful and well understood but the second part was unnerving. Thank you for having an enjoyable class and being so animated it helps relax with a topic that isn't neccessarily the easiest to relax with.
Response 2 This is a very challenging class. I have learned so much and appreciate your efforts in challenging and encouraging us!
Response 3 Field trips such as the Heritage Center one should be repeated and expanded upon. Understanding of the cultures from which our writings come from greatly increased the ability to understand what is being read.
Response 4 Lectures and visual aids very helpful, and class discussions are welcomed
Response 5 I feel a sort of ambivalence toward the texts that we read. I am sometimes compelled to explore the social and religious ideas in the text, but at the same time I find them rather uninspiring. I am not moved by the text, but I persue understanding of it out of principle.
Response 6 I really enjoy your class because of your broad knowledge of your subject.
Response 7 All in all, I find this class to be useful as far. The assigned literature is entertaining as well as enlightening about our times and the times of the past. I personally find the lectures to be structured well and the occasional off-topic lapses aren't too bad. The only thing I think the class could do without are the practice in-class writing episodes. Many students may struggle with writing on paper since we are at a time where most well thought-out work is done by mashing a few keys. Unfortuntately, we are not at a time where we are all provided with laptops. Although, if we were prewriting outlines in class for papers, I would find it very useful. That is still a very necessary step for writing a good paper. Continue being yourself (as you do), listening to others (as you do), and doing what you do best.
Response 8 To clarify on the group work question: Groupwork in class is interesting and informative, but outside of the classroom, group work tends to become overly stressful and is hard to arrange.
Response 9 The links on the example page for assignments and test questions does not work. or, at least it did not the last time i checked, which was Thursday, 8th.
