Graduate Testing

The following Graduate Programs at Minnesota State University Moorhead require scores on graduate admissions tests prior to reviewing applications for admission.

Master of Liberal Arts
Test of English as a Foreign Language™ (TOEFL® Examination).  Score of at least 570 paper-based or 230 computer-based for foreign students whose native language is not English.

Master of Science, Counseling and Student Affairs
Miller Analogies Test® (MAT) or from the Graduate Record Examination, General Test (GRE® Test).  No specific minimum score is required.   Test scores must be no more than five years old.

Master of Science, Curriculum and Instruction in Education
Miller Analogies Test® (MAT).  Test scores must be no more than five years old.

Master of Science, Public and Human Service Administration
Graduate Record Examination (GRE® Test); quantitative, verbal and analytical scores.   Both grade point average and GRE® Test scores are evaluated to determine admission.  Test scores must be no more than five years old.

Master of Science, Reading
Miller Analogies Test® (MAT).   Test scores must be no more than five years old.

Master of Science, School Psychology
Graduate Record Examination (GRE® Test); verbal and quantitative portions combined score of 1,000 is required.  Test scores must be no more than five years old.

Master of Science, Special Education
Miller Analogies Test® (MAT).   Test scores must be no more than five years old.

Master of Science, Speech-Language Pathology
Graduate Record Examination (GRE® Test).  Test scores must be no more than five years old.
Test of English as a Foreign Language™ (TOEFL® Examination).  Score of at least 570 paper-based or 230 computer-based for foreign students whose native language is not English.

Testing at the MSUM Housing and Testing Center is temporarily unavailable.  Testing done at the MSUM Counseling Center remains available and is on schedule. Please contact this alternative testing site:

Graduate admissions testing is coordinated through the Counseling & Personal Growth Center at MSUM.  Study guides for these tests are available in the MSUM  Bookstore, MSUM Library, or a commercial bookstore. Students often report benefits from preparatory study for admissions tests. Call the MSUM Counseling Center, Bridges 260, 477-2227 for more information.

Deadlines are important to note as it often takes 3 to 6 weeks for scores to be reported.

GRE®
Graduate Record Exam

The computerized GRE®General Testmay be scheduled the first three (3) weeks of each monththrough the MSUM Educational Testing Service in Housing and Testing (BA 120). Call Karen or Dan at 218-477-2118 to schedule your testing session.

The GRE® Subject Tests are given in the paper-based format only on the following schedule.  Please note these tests are not administered at MSUM.  The nearest test centers are Concordia College in Moorhead and UND in Grand Forks. Register online or by mail 5 weeks before test date.  Test dates are:

Miller Analogies Test®

The MAT will be administered at MSUM eight (8) times a year on Wednesdays. Test site is in Bridges 264, 5:00-6:30 p.m. Due to limited enrollment students should register at the Counseling Center (260 Bridges) or call 477-2227 at least three days prior to testing. The cost is $60.00 payable at the time of testing. Test dates are:
