Form 3: Comprehensive Examination
- When the course work for the degree is essentially complete, students take a comprehensive examination, if it is required.
- When required, some comprehensive examinations are written essays, national certifying tests, or other forms as determined by the specific program.
- Some programs require that a passing score on the comprehensive examination be obtained before the research component may begin.
- Upon passing the comprehensive examination, Form 3 will be sent to the Director of Graduate Studies for signature.
- Failure to pass the comprehensive examination (the number of times a student may attempt the exam is determined by each program) will result in the student being terminated from the degree program.
- The following programs require a comprehensive examination:
Master of Science in Counseling and Student Affairs
Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction
Master of Science in Educational Leadership
Master of Science in Reading
Master of Science and Specialist in School Psychology
Master of Science in Special Education
Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology
- Completed Form 3 is sent to the Graduate Studies Office, the Director of Graduate Studies signs the form, and it is recorded and placed in the student's permanent file in the Records Office.
