  • Graduate Certificate in Instructional Coaching and Leadership

    The Instructional Coaching and Leadership Certificate is a fifteen (15) credit program designed for individuals who wish to develop their leadership ability for use in the classroom or in such expanded roles as lead teacher, instructional coach, team leader, curriculum developer, department chairperson, new teacher mentor or special project leader. The ICLC is intended for teachers who want to apply their knowledge and skill to the larger school community, yet may not want to leave their classrooms to do so.

     

     

    Admission Requirements

    1. Baccalaureate degree in Education from a regionally accredited institution. 
    2. Minimum one year documented and successful teaching, or comparable human service experience.
    3. Undergraduate GPA or 2.75, or at least 30 semester hours of graded course work.
    4. Completed "Application for Admission to Graduate Study" form.
    5. Official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended sent directly from the institution to the MSUM Graduate Studies Office. Transcripts issued to students are not considered official and may not be substituted for official transcripts.
    6. Transfer courses evaluated and approved by the Graduate Program Coordinator and the Dean of Graduate Studies and submitted on the Request for Graduate Course Substitution form.
    7. A non-refundable $20.00 fee for first-time applicants payable to Minnesota State University Moorhead.
    8. 250-300 word essay on professional goals and philosophy of education

    $20 application fee for first time MSUM applicants

    After you complete the Graduate Online Application:

    1. Log in to the Graduate Online Application site

    2. Select “Check Status”

    3. Select eServices at the top of the page. You will be    able to pay the application fee using a credit or debit card.

    Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

    Contact ALL  the colleges and universities you have attended and have your transcripts sent to:

     Graduate Studies Office 

     MSU Moorhead, 1104 7th Ave. S. 

     Moorhead, MN 56563 

    You do not need to order transcripts from MSUM or other MnSCU institutions. See Transcript Policy for more details.

    4.

    The Graduate Studies Office and the graduate certificate program you are applying to will check this item once we have received all of your transcripts.

    Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or at least 3.25 for the last 30 semester credits

    6.

    Essay

    Prepare a 250-300 word essay on educational philosophy and professional goals.

    1. Log in to the Graduate Online Application site

    2. Select “Check Status”

    3. Under “Program Specific Requirements”, click on “Upload Now” button  for the “Essay”

    7.

    Minimum of 1 year documented teaching experience or comparable human service experience

    1. Have a school official send email directly to the graduate office (graduate@mnstate.edu) to verify 1 year (or more) teaching experience

    2. Subject line should state “Teaching Verification

    3. Email must have credentials (email address, telephone number, address, title) included on the bottom of the email
