This website presents the Gustav Cohen translation of the 7th edition of Eduard Hanslick's Vom Musikalisch-Schönen (1885).  Cohen's translation was published in1891. This version is altered in many places after consulting both the German text and the 1986 translation by Geoffrey Payzant. The Cohen translation is in the public domain and may be freely reproduced. This adaptation is my own work and should not be reproduced without due credit, including this statement.
