Minnesota  State University Moorhead Library, in cooperation with the Clay County Law Library provides access to a large collection of legal resources in addition to the collection maintained at the Clay County Courthouse Library.  The collection includes United States, Minnesota, and North Dakota statutes and regulations; U.S., MN, ND, and other state court opinions; standa rd reporters and digests; encyclopedias and dictionaries; specialized treatises and other resources.  Use MNPALS to determine our holdings.

 

LEGAL RESEARCH WEB RESOURCES

Findlaw - A wide assortment of legal resources are included at this site, including U.S. Supreme Court Opinions.   An Archive of summaries of opinions issued since September, 2000 by the U.S.Supreme Court, all thirteen Federal Circuit Courts, the California Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and the New York Court of Appeals is a handy resource.

LawCrawler
-   "LawCrawler is an automated Internet search "spider"that restricts its crawls to known legal sites. Powered by the same search engine that drives AltaVista  LawCrawler searches AltaVista's law-oriented  domains,  as well as other legal code and case law databases to provide targeted searching for legal researchers. Laws Online
- Laws Online is a directory of law text and case sites and a resource for other legal information as well. All Federal branches of  government and state laws and courts are covered as well. Federal Court coverage includes the Supreme Court as well as Circuit Courts. State coverage includes state codes, rules, directories and legislatures as well as bar and trial associations. The Resource section of this page includes the following categories: law schools, law reviews, law students, law enforcement, international, bookshelf, new technology, publishers and services. While some of the links on Laws Online are to fee based resources of LawChek, most are  free for use by website visitors.

Legal Engine - An online legal research resource, with links to city, county, state, federal, and international resources.

The Internet Public Library Law Reference Section - A good starting point   for locating a variety of web law resources.  Contains resources from around the world, not just the U.S.

Legal Information Institute (LII) - Cornell Law School's legal resource web site, a good starting point for legal research. 

The Minnesota State Law Library: Minnesota Legal Resources - Amongst many resources, this "Includes links to ordinances, legislation, administrative law, and appellate court opinions. Also, full-text search of court opinions since May 1996"

U.S. Federal Appellate Court Opinions -- Findlaw's tool for accessing Federal Appeals Court Decisions.
