- SW400-W Research Students:
Please accept my warmest welcome to the School of Social Work, and congratulations on being admitted to our fine program. In SW400-W, you will take your first steps toward becoming a licensed generalist social work practitioner. To begin your pre-professional training, please read carefully our course web page and familiarize yourself with SW400-W and all requirements, especially its writing-intensive format! Then, please read materials for Units 1 & 2. Finally, please select a social agency that you want to study this term and visit the agency to get their general brochure and other reading materials. We will use these the first two weeks of class. I look forward to meeting each of you on August 25th, and working with you this semester in our study of empirical methods used in social work practice. (UPDATED: 24 July, 2008)
- SW460-W Policy Students:
In this writing intensive course you will continuing working toward becoming a licensed generalist social work practitioner. In SW460-W we will study social policy and its creation, legitimization, and evaluation. We will draw on what you have learned from Political Science 120, Economics 100, History 241, and Paralegal 470. We will also apply knowledge you have gained from SW250 - Introduction to Social Welfare and Social Work and SW330 - HBSE, and use our evolving generalist practice skills, the planned change model, and much more in our study of social work policy practice! Please read carefully our course web page and familiarize yourself with SW460-W and all its requirements, especially its writing-intensive format! Then, please read materials for Units 1 & 2. Finally, please select a social problem that you want to study this term and visit an agency that addresses that problem to get their general brochure and other reading materials. We will use these the first two weeks of class.
