We are thrilled to welcome parents and families of MSU Moorhead students to the Dragon family! It is an exciting time, and together, we will prepare your student for a successful college experience.
We will partner with you to ease your student’s transition to college. Please explore the website, ask questions, and reassure your student we are here to help in the transition process. We encourage open communication between students, families and the university, and we will work with you to assist your student in whatever way is needed. We provide a variety of academic, social, health/wellness and personal resources to ensure your student’s success, and offer family-friendly opportunities to celebrate your student at MSUM.
Your Student's New Normal
Whether this is your first student off to college or your last, understand that homesickness is common among most first-year students. The best thing to do is listen to them and offer support. Beyond that, encourage your student to connect with other students and to get involved in campus life – it’s not only important in combatting homesickness, but it’s also shown to significantly increase student success and satisfaction. Stay Connected
The office of First Year Programs is an excellent resource for your student as they make their transition to college life at MSUM. We also proudly serve parents and family members or our first-year students, assisting them through the transition as well.
