2. Attach a DARS transcript, available online, with the following courses highlighted: Ed 205, Ed 205E, Ed 294, and CMST 100 or AMCS 233. (Note: Both CMST 100 and AMCS are needed for licensure, but only one must be completed prior to SARTE application.) Also highlight your overall GPA, Liberal Studies GPA, and PPST.
3. Attach your 205E Evaluation (completed by your cooperating teacher for your 205E classroom experience).
4. Include a letter requesting admission into the Teacher Education Program. In the letter state why you should be admitted to the Teacher Education Program and how your coursework up to this time has prepared you to become a professional who is knowledgeable, humanistic, reflective and creative. See Conceptual Framework.
Make sure you type the letter (approximately one page in length) and edit it for spelling, punctuation and grammar. Your typed first and last names need to appear at the bottom of the letter.
5. Transfer students: If a transfer course has been substituted for any of the following courses, attach a copy of the MSUM Departmental Request for Course Exception, signed by the person who approved the substitution. (For questions regarding this, please see the Director of Teacher Education, Lommen 212, 477-2096.)
6. If your current transcript does not indicate that you have taken the PPST, attach a copy of your PPST scores or verification from the Housing Office that you have taken the test. If you have scheduled the test but have not taken it, attach verification of schedule date.
7. EECE majors, complete and obtain your advisor's signature on the Writing Competency Verification (p.4 of SARTE application document).
8. Complete the Personal Disposition Self-Assessment (included in SARTE application document).
9. Meet with your advisor to review your application and to obtain his/her signature at the bottom of the form.
10. Return the completed forms and required documents to the Dean's Office (Lommen 212). Upon approval, you will receive a letter confirming your acceptance to the Teacher Education Program. Congratulations! (Please KEEP this letter on file for your records.)
