Leaving a Legacy

Most great universities trace their beginnings to gifts given by supporters and friends who believe in the power of education to improve the quality of life for individuals and the community while insuring a better future for those who followed.  Harvard, Stanford, and Yale owe their names to early benefactors.  Many of the beautiful buildings that grace campuses such as Indiana University and the University of Wisconsin are the result of thousands of small donations given by alumni and friends.  MSUM and the CEHS have greatly benefited from the gifts that you and others have given.  We appreciate the support you have given to your university and to your college.  Now we want to ask you to consider becoming part of a group that will leave a legacy of greatness for future CEHS students to enjoy.

A general gift is, of course, always welcome.  If you would like to designate your gift, we have several special funds from which to choose:

Giving Tree
Do you remember that special teacher? The one who challenged you, motivated you, believed in you, and helped you to become the person you are today?  The Giving Tree allows you to invest in the future of tomorrow's teachers.  This fund is dedicated to recognizing the individuals who support the future of education.  Each $100 contribution to the College will be acknowledged with an inscribed metal leaf bearing the name of the donor or designated honoree, and affixed to the Giving Tree display in Lommen Hall.

Lommen Hall Bricks and Mortar Initiative
The College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) represents the foundation on which Minnesota State University was built in 1885.  As we move into our second century, the CEHS is beginning a Bricks and Mortar Initiative to help rebuild Lommen Hall, as well as to update Murray Commons and Nemzek Hall, to provide modern space and facilities for all of the College's students and faculty.

Lommen Hall will undergo a partial renovation in 2008.  The projects listed here represent an opportunity for you to create a legacy by naming the project after yourself, your family, or someone you would like to honor.

Student Scholarship
We have a number of student scholarship funds in the CEHS.  You may make a donation toward a specific scholarship for a particular program, or a general scholarship contribution.

Senior Gift
The Senior Gift is your first opportunity to "give forward."  Alumni giving made many of our experiences more fulfilling, so now is the time to help secure these positive experiences for current and future students.  It's our turn to make a gift which will show the unity of the Class of 2008.  Your gift will ensure future students these same opportunities.
