Accreditation

The College of Education and Human Services is seeking continuing accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Minnesota State Board of Teaching (BOT) for its Teacher Education programs. The site visit is scheduled for March 2-6, 2002. You may visit our accreditation pages at
MSUM--BOT Index Page / NCATE Index Page. The website is a work in progress and will be changing on a daily basis as we continue to prepare for the visit.

The graduate program in Counseling and Student Affairs within the College of Education and Human Services has specialized accreditation for its "Community Counseling" and "Student Affairs Practice in Higher Education" programs of study.  Both programs received accreditation status through June 30, 2007 from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).  The "Secondary School Counseling" program is approved by the Minnesota State Board of Teaching (BOT).  All three of the Counseling and Student Affairs programs have institutional accreditation through the North Central Association (NCA) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

The Athletic Training program within the College of Education and Human Services is currently seeking accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).  Candidacy is a two-year process to ensure universities are meeting CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines.  MSUM will submit a self-study report on June 1, 2002 and anticipates a site visit in the fall of 2002.

The Social Work program at MSU Moorhead received accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) in July, 1996.  The next site visit will be in June, 2004.

MSU Moorhead's Nursing program is applying for accreditation from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.  The site visit is scheduled for fall 2002.  The Nursing program is currently accredited by the National League for Nursing.
