All of our teacher education programs are accredited by NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education), and are approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching until 2014.
The School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership is comprised of undergraduate programs in Community Health, Health Services Administration and the RN-to-BSN program, as well as two graduate programs. The RN-to-BSN, the Master of Science in Nursing and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) are offered fully online, the latter being a collaborative effort among four graduate programs in the MNSCU system.
Monthly stuttering support group meetings are held for adults and teens (ages 11-19) who stutter. The meetings are facilitated by Bruce Hanson, a board recognized specialist in fluency disorders and the chair of the SLHS department. See www.mnstate.edu/slhs for more information.
MSUM is one of five MNSCU universities which jointly provide a graduate level licensure program to prepare teachers of students who are blind or visually impaired. The program was launched in 2003 and is currently preparing its third cohort of students.
The Dean's List is published at the close of the Fall and Spring semesters. Eligible students must be in a degree seeking status and maintain a GPA of at least 3.25 for that semester while completing a minimum of 12 graded credits. Click here to view Dean's Lists by semester.
Dr. Rita Ray-Mihm, DNP Consortium graduate, won first place in the Education category at the American Psychiatric Nurses’ Association national conference in Charleston, SC. The subject of her winning poster was, “Use of Case Studies to Promote Diffusion in Management of Aggression Staff Training.”Jane Giedt, Nursing, authored an article, “Psychoneuroimmunnology: The Body-Mind Connection” for the University of Nicosia School of Life Sciences monthly newsletter.Jan Adair, Health and Physical Education, was selected from 500 applicants to serve on the committee that will revise the Middle Childhood Generalist Standards. Committee work will take place from March until September 15, 2010 in Washington, DC. Angie Hanson Cook, MSUM Alumna in Education, recently received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.Ok-hee Lee, Elementary and Early Childhood Education, authored an article, “Reestablishing the Functions and Roles of Curriculum Review Committee” featured in a peer reviewed Korean journal. She also received an Excellent Lecturer Award from Seoul National University of Education where she taught three courses during the 2009 Spring semester. Social Work Professors Sue Peterson and Tracy Clark presented “Evidence-Based Practice in Undergraduate Internships: Examination of a Senior Seminar Project” at the national Council on Social Work Education Conference in San Antonio, TX.
