Student Research

Students in the Economics Senior Seminar are required to conduct original research and present their findings at the annual MSUM Student Academic Conference.  Selected students have also presented their research at the Eastern Economics Association sessions for undergraduate students (Issues in Political Economy).

Economics majors Lea Brandel and Matthew Borgen presented papers at the undergraduate student sessions of the Eastern Economic Association meetings held in Boston March 6-9th.  Lea's paper, College Women Choice of Majors:  Evidence From A Survey, investigated factors that may affect college women's decisions to be a business major.  Matt's paper was Wal-Mart Super Centers' Impact Local Grocery Prices.  Alumni donations funded the student travel expenses.  Read more about Eastern Economics Association presentations from prior years.
