Why Study Economics?

What is Economics? 
Economics is about trade-offs.  Societies around the world are continually deciding how to use scare resources Today, almost everything, including elections, are driven by economics events and decisions. 

Why major in Economics?
Economics teaches a way of thinking that is clear, concise and rigorous.  Such training allows individuals to pursue many different careers paths.  A major in economics also provides excellent preparation for law school and other graduate programs. 

What career options are available for Economics graduates?
An economics degree provides excellent training for careers in banking, finance, international business, general business, law, government and business consulting.  The May 2005 U.S. Dept of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics Report indicates that the hourly mean wage for Economists is $39.82, and the annual mean wage is $80,9000.
