    Minnesota Chippewa Tribes

    Fond du Lac Band of Ojibwe
    Each year, the Fond du Lac Area Foundation awards more than $100,000 in scholarships to students in Fond du Lac County. These scholarships range from $100 to $4,000.
    Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
    Application priority deadline is June 15 of each calendar year.

    Grand Portage Reservation
    Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
    Must have application totally completed at least two weeks before school begins.

    Nett Lake/Bois Forte Reservation
    The Early Child Hood/Head Start programs offer child care and pre-school services for children ages 0-5. The Higher Education programs offer scholarships based upon need as defined by a school financial aid officer. The maximum allowance is $5,000 per academic year for undergraduates and $6,250 per academic year for graduate students.

    The WIA (Workforce Investment Act) provides supportive services to assist individuals who are economically disadvantaged, unemployed or underemployed.The Direct Employment program assists band members who have recently obtained employment within a 90 mile radius of the Reservation with work related expenses.

    Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe; Accepted into MN or out-of-state post secondary school.
    Based on need; maximum of $5000

    White Earth Reservation
    Applications for the White Earth Scholarship Program will have a priority deadline of May 31st prior to the next academic year. Please use the links below to download the packet corresponding to your educational plans.

    All applicants must:

    • Be an enrolled member of the MCT- White Earth Band
    • Apply at least 8-12 weeks prior to the day classes begin
    • Be accepted to an accredited higher education university or technical college
    • Apply for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is required regardless of your income status!
    • Have a high school diploma or GED prior to WESP consideration.
    • Currently in good academic standing and not in prior student loan default.
