Benefits of SI

 

Regular participation in SI significantly increases your understanding of the course material, improves your grade in the course, and increases your overall GPA.  It is also a way to learn more effective ways of studying, and it also gives students a chance to meet new people.   Student course success, with the help of SI, is shown in the following statistics:

  Outcome SI had on student GPA

  No student participation resulted in GPA of 2.16

  Student participated less than 5 times resulted in GPA of 2.49

  Student participated more than 5 times resulted in GPA of 2.75

  Outcome SI had on student's course grade

  No student participation resulted in 14% of students receiving  an A and  23% receiving a B

  Student participated less than 5 times resulted in 19% of students receiving an A  and 28% receiving a B

  Student participated more than 5 time resulted  in 26% of students receiving an  A and 38% receiving a B

  Fall 2005

  Outcome SI had on student GPA

  No student participation resulted in GPA of 2.19

  Student participated less than 5 times resulted in GPA of 2.40

  Student participated more than 5 times resulted in GPA of 2.97

  No student participation resulted in 14% of students receiving an A and 24% receiving a B

  Student participated less than 5 times resulted in 16% of students receiving an A and 28% receiving a B
