Did you know this about CSIS Department Scholarships?
Thanks to the generous donations from our alumni, former and current faculty and staff, the Computer Science and Information Systems Department was able to establish an endowment in 2006 to begin awarding a $500 scholarship annually to a top student. We have also received gifts through employers of alumni through their employer's gift matching programs. The scholarship account quickly grew to allow the department to offer two $500 scholarships annually. New this year, Microsoft Corporation has generously donated $5,000 to be used for five $1,000 scholarships (The Microsoft-Fargo Computer Science and Information Technology Student Scholarship). The agreement is for an annual donation of this amount. The rapid growth in scholarships is exciting for the department and of great benefit for deserving CSIS students.
As you can imagine, the deserving scholarship recipients are very pleased and appreciative of the generous gifts made by alumni as they travel the same path you did in the past. Here are a few of their comments:
“The scholarship is very much appreciated and has surely enhanced my experience with the CSIS Department. It is truly encouraging to know that the CSIS Department has the ability to offer such financial assistance.”
- Shelby Hoesel
“Receiving a CSIS scholarship made me see that hard work does pay off and that there are people out there who care about the future of this generation. One day I too hope to support the students who are striving to get a good education and a successful career.” - Yelena Mejova
"This scholarship has helped me a lot. It feels great to put aside worry about bills and debt, and focus on what really matters at this point of my life: learning!" - Kyle Pederson
