2006-2007 CNSA Thesis Deadlines (post proposal*)


 

Fall Semester 2006

 

October 12 – deadline to submit "advisor approved draft" to CNSA faculty

October 26 – deadline for distribution of "faculty approved draft" to outside committee member

November 9 – deadline for form 3 (last day to apply for oral examination)

November 23 – last day for oral exam

December 7 – last day to deliver thesis copies to the library and form 4 to Graduate Studies Office


 

Spring Semester 2007

 

March 2 - deadline to submit "advisor approved draft" to CNSA faculty

March 23 – deadline for distribution of "faculty approved draft" to outside committee member

April 6 – deadline for form 3 (last day to apply for oral examination)

April 20 - last day for oral exam

May 4 - last day to deliver thesis copies to the library and form 4 to Graduate Studies Office

 

 

*These deadlines only apply to the Thesis Oral Defense. The deadline for a thesis proposal is the last official day of classes prior to final exams. Thesis meetings are not held during final exam week.


 

Definitions:

 

Advisor approved draft – this is the draft that your advisor has deemed is ready to be given to the

other CNSA faculty.

Faculty approved draft – this is the draft that the CNSA faculty have read and have deemed it

ready to be sent to the outside committee member.

 

Please note that revisions are a natural part of the process at every step in the thesis process. Your committee members' jobs are to assist you in writing the best thesis possible.


 

Typical Sequence of events for thesis completion:

Decide on a topic

Revise drafts with advisor

October

Advisor approves proposal

Give CNSA faculty your proposal

November 1

Make changes and then give outside committee members  your proposal

November 21

Proposal meeting (form 2) and get IRB approval

December 1

Collect data

January 12

Analyze data

February

Revise drafts of thesis (all 5 chapters) with advisor

March 1

Drafts of thesis (all 5 chapters) to CNSA faculty

March 22

Drafts of thesis (all 5 chapters) to outside committee members (form 3)

April 5

Oral defense (form 4)

April 15

Deliver thesis copies to the library
