Wesley J. Erwin

Wes Erwin joined the CNSA faculty in the fall of 1997. He arrived from Iowa City , IA , where he received his master's and Ph.D. in Counseling and Human Development at the University of Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!). No stranger to Minnesota , Wes received his bachelor's at Winona State , and grew up near Rochester .
Wes became the Director of the CNSA Program in 2004. He has experience working in community mental health agencies, chemical dependency treatment programs, and university counseling centers. Wes' teaching and research interests include ethics (moral sensitivity), group counseling, multicultural counseling, and counselor education and supervision.
Wes has authored or co-authored seven journal articles and published one book review. He has numerous conference presentations to his credit, many in the area of ethics. He is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Minnesota and North Dakota . He is a member of the following professional organizations: American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling, the North Dakota Counseling Association, the North Dakota Mental Health Counselor's Association, and the Minnesota Counseling Association.
A fan of the outdoors, Wes enjoys canoeing, camping trips in the wilderness, bicycling, and playing basketball.

Duane Halbur joined the faculty in the fall of 2006. He received his Ph.D. from the University of South Dakota , his master's from Minnesota State University Mankato, and his bachelor's from Iowa State University .
Although an Iowa native, Duane is not new to the area. He most recently arrived from the University of North Dakota where he served on the faculty as the school counseling coordinator. Prior to that he taught at the university of Northern Iowa where he also co-owned a private practice. His teaching interests include group counseling, counseling theory, counseling skills, school counseling and internship.
Duane's research interests include relationship aggression in middle school girls, the needs of rural school counseling, existential factors in group work, theoretical orientation, philosophical counseling, and technology in counseling. He has co-authored several articles, published in philosophical counseling, and co-authored a textbook with his wife, entitled, Developing Your Theoretical Orientation in Counseling and Psychotherapy. Duane is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Iowa , has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Dakota and is a National Certified Counselor. He is active in the American Counseling Association, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, North Dakota Counseling Association, and the American School Counseling Association.
When not working, Duane enjoys camping, golfing, tinkering with computers, traveling, and spending time with his son Dominic and his wife Kimberly. |
