Curriculum

The Communication Studies Department offers three programs of study:
•    B.A. Degree in Communication Studies: We provide a flexible major that offers a practical approach to communicating in written, oral and mediated messages. The small size of the major makes it an excellent complement to a primary major.
•    Minor in Communication Studies: Our minor requires five classes and provides a balance of theory and practice and is popular with business, education, and mass communication students.
•    Minor in Leadership Studies: We now offer a minor in Leadership Studies that includes six courses in personal effectiveness, leadership, team communication, and ethics. Your study culminates with a capstone leadership experience project.

In whichever option you choose, you’ll select from courses in areas such as persuasion, group and team communication, leadership, interpersonal communication, or training and development. Be sure to check out the complete list of courses we offer.

The Dragon Core is MSUM's new signature curriculum for lifelong learning. These courses are required in addition to the courses required by a major.
