The following types of resources may be useful for completing lesson plans, teaching units, or other related health research.

  1. Curriculum Bulletins/Guides
    1. Curriculum in book format is located in CMC bulletin section.
    2. Kraus Curriculum Development Library: use CD-ROM index for searching this microfiche collection.  See "A Guide to the Kraus Curriculum Development Library (KCDL)" for instructions.

  2. Textbooks

Located in the textbook section of the CMC. Look under health, psychology, self-esteem, and child development. Supplementary textbooks are also available in this section on more specific topics.

  1. Trade Books for Junior-Senior High Students

Health related trade books are available on many topics and are located in the non-fiction collection in the CMC.

  1. Non-Book Resources
    1. A number of audio-visual resources, such as video tapes, are located in the CMC multi-media collection.
    2. CD-ROM - The Ultimate Human Body: a detailed multi-media guide to the human body. Curric. Software 612 U47
    3. Video Disk - Resisting Pressures: Alcohol Resistance that Works: an interactive program designed to give adolescents skills to successfully refuse peer pressure related to alcohol. Curric. Ref. Video Disk 362.292 R433

  2. Periodical/Journal Articles and Resources
    1. ERIC - a database on WebPals to locate lesson plans, units, and other topics related to health. Includes both educational articles, as well as a microfiche collection of documents.
    2. Health Reference Center - a Gale Search Database that indexes journal and magazine articles related to health, as well as newsletters and pamphlets. Some resources include full text of the document.
    3. Student Edition - a Gale Search Database that indexes periodicals, newspapers, encyclopedia articles, etc. for middle to high school students.

  3. Internet Sites
    1. For lesson plans and related health resources, go to "Health" or "Lesson Plans/Teaching Resources."
    2. For more Internet-based lesson plans, use a search engine and search under your topic plus the phrase "lesson plans."
