  • BBC LearningIncludes resources and learning activities for various subjects including: Art & Design, English, Geography, Health, History, Languages, Science, Weather, etc.  Also includes lesson plans under the "Schools" link.  (http://www.bbc.co.uk/learning/index.shtml)

  • Blue Web’NSearchable site of recommended lesson plans, resources, projects, activities, and tutorials in a wide variety of subjects. (http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/bluewebn/)

  • Britannica: Web’s Best Sites, Chosen by Our Editors—Encyclopaedia Britannica's Internet guide is a World Wide Web navigation service that classifies, rates, and reviews thousands of web sites. Sites can be accessed through a search or through broad categories. Includes information on a broad range of topics, including education. (http://www.britannica.com/)

  • Busy Teachers' WebSite K-12—Designed to provide teachers with resource materials, lesson plans, and classroom activities in many subject areas.  (http://www.ceismc.gatech.edu/busyt/)
  • Discovery School—Sponsored by the Discovery Channel, site provides lesson plans for many subject areas from grades K-12, as well as other teaching resources.  (http://school.discovery.com)

  • Education World—Includes lesson plans, daily features and columns, and many other resources for educators, preschool through highschool.  (http://www.educationworld.com)

  • The Educator's Reference Desk—Includes lesson plans across PreK to 12 subject areas, a question/answer archives, and an ERIC Database for searching journal articles, microfiche, and full-text ERIC Digests.  (http://www.eduref.org)
  • Encyclopedia Smithsonian: FAQs & Guide to Resources from A to ZIncludes answers to frequently asked questions and links to Smithsonian resources. Includes photographs and bibliographies on topics. This is a good site for students who are beginning a research project. Provides information on a wide range of topics. (http://www.si.edu/resource/faq/start.htm)
  • GEM: The Gateway to Educational Materials—Union catalog which has thousands of lesson plans, curriculum units and other educational materials distributed on web sites across the Internet.  Includes the AskERIC Lesson Plan Collection.  To search by topic and grade level, click on "Search the Gateway."  (http://www.thegateway.org)

  • Harcourt Brace School Publishers: The Learning Site—Provides teaching activities related to reading/language arts, spelling, mathematics, social studies, science, health, and art appropriate for elementary and middle school.  While the ideas often refer to specific Harcourt Brace textbooks, they can also be used independently.  (http://www.harcourtschool.com/)
  • Houghton Mifflin Teachers' Center—Includes special information in reading/language arts, mathematics, and social studies.  The social studies section includes outline maps for downloading.  The "Activity Search" provides a search by curriculum area and grade level (K-8) for classroom activities and lesson plans.  (http://www.eduplace.com/index.html)
  • Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators—An extensive list of sites on the Internet useful for enhancing curriculum and teacher professional growth.  Also provides access to lesson plans from the Discovery Channel.  (http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide)

  • The Library in the Sky—Contains over 7,000 links to some of the best educational resources on the Internet.  Guides teachers, students, parents, librarians, and members of the community on their journeys through cyberspace.  Includes links to numerous lesson plans in a variety of subject areas.  (http://www.nwrel.org/sky/index.php)
  • Minneapolis Public Library: Subject List of Internet Resources—Provides links to Internet resources in many subject areas. Sites selected by professional librarians. (http://www.mpls.lib.mn.us/list.asp)

  • New York Times Learning Network on the Web: Teacher Connection (Grades 6-12)Provides lesson plans in many subject areas based on the news. Includes a lesson plan archive. (http://www.nytimes.com/learning/teachers/index.html)

  • PBS Online—Provides information on PBS television shows and videos. Includes lesson plans for PBS productions and links to over 1,000 teacher resources online in the areas of arts and literature, health and vocation, social studies, mathematics, science, and "TechKnow." Resources include materials for preschool through high school levels.  (http://www.pbs.org)

  • Scholastic—Publisher site that includes lesson plans, teaching activities, discussion guides for selected books published by Scholastic, and current events. (http://www.teacher.scholastic.com/index.htm

  • Smithsonian Education—The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest complex of museums. The Education area provides lesson plans/resources in the arts, language arts, social studies, and science. (http://smithsonianeducation.org)

  • Think Quest Library—Provides innovative resources for students of all ages on a wide range of educational topics.  Featuring over 6,000 websites, the library is created by students from around the world.  (http://www.thinkquest.org/library)
