- CyberGuides:
Teacher Guides & Student Activities—CyberGuides are
supplementary units of instruction centered on core works of literature.
They are designed for classrooms with one online computer.
Teacher-selected web sites are built into each unit. Based on
California Language Arts Content Standards, guides are available for grades

Online: The Language Center—Includes a searchable dictionary and
thesaurus, as well as features that could be used in the English classroom,
such as word games, "Word of the Day," and scripts from
"Words for the Wise," a two-minute radio program on features of

- National Council
of Teachers of English—Professional
organization whose members are devoted to improving the teaching and
learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education.

- Phrase Finder—Includes
meanings and origins of phrases, sayings, cliches and quotes. Includes

- Poem Finder—Largest,
most comprehensive and most current poetry database available. It is
international in scope, and covers poetry from antiquity to the present.

Poem a Day for American High Schools—Billy
Collins, Poet Laureate of the U.S. selected these 180 poems - one for each
day of the school year. Includes more inofrmation in the "poetry

House Teacher’s Resource Center—Includes
extensive teacher’s guides for children’s and young adult novels, as
