Dr. Imbarrato chose this book because:

“Helena Wall’s Study of early-American society articulates an intriguing, complex tension between the individual and the community.  Her work along with Wendy Martin’s An American Triptych inspired my doctoral dissertation on eighteenth-century autobiography.  Most fortunately, both scholars served on my dissertation committee, with Martin as director.
