Variable Credit Mastery Learning

Since 1972 the Corrick Center for General Education has used Pass/No Credit variable credit mastery learning as its method of evaluation. This method is non-competitive and focuses on retention of the material as students must master each credit at the 75th percentile.

If a student does not master all of the credits in the class they have the opportunity to work with the faculty member to accomplish this. If a student does not master any of the credits for the course they will have to re-take the class by re-registering for it. Course credits are made up with the faculty member at the faculty member’s discretion.

This method of grading provides students with the opportunity to master the material in a Competency based learning environment.
