The directories listed below are in the Resource Room, CMU 114.  They  provide a wealth of information to help candidates research organizations prior to applying for jobs or internships.  If you come in to browse, you will find other recent directories not listed

  • Book of Lists, Definitive Who's Who of Business in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Area 2007 – Table of contents divided by industry specialty areas.

  • Vault/SEO Guide to Investment Bank Diversity Programs – 2006 Edition.  Get the scoop on diversity at the top investment banks. Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) is the nation's premier summer internship program for talented students of color — serving hundreds of exceptional students of color annually.  Also contains information on diversity scholarships and recruiting programs.

  • 2003/2004 Directory of Community Resources, Cass County, ND & Clay County, MN.  This book has an alphabetical and a subject index for all of the Not-for-Profit Agencies in Cass/Clay.  It provides contact information, purpose, office hours, services provided to clients, funding sources and eligibility requirements.  Be sure you know at least this much about these area organization before applying for a job or an internship with one or more of them.  You can find this directory information on line at www.myfirstlink.org.  Select the Information/Referral Services link and then select On-line Community Resource Database.

  • Minnesota Nonprofit Directory 2000-2002 Contains information on over 4,100 organizations are broken into categories (Arts, Health, Education, Housing, Research, Social Services, and lots more). Also categorized listings of organizations by county and zip code.
  • Book of Lists, Ranking Companies in the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul Area 2002-2003 Ranks thousands of Minneapolis/St. Paul companies by categories: (Accounting, Architectural, Environmental, Engineering, Hospitals, Law Firms, Travel Agencies and many, many more).
  • Plunkett's Entertainment & Media Industry Almanac 1999 Profiles on hundreds of companies with the latest statistics and trends in: Film and Video, Radio and Television, Cable and Satellite, Magazine and Books, On-line Publishing. Includes the Entertainment & Media 400:  who they are and how they were chosen. 
  • The American Almanac of Jobs and Salaries Where are the highest paying jobs? What are today's booming industries? The Almanac tells all, covering hundreds of occupations, including comprehensive job descriptions and requirements, salaries (With regional variations), with benefits and career prospects for each field.

  • Hoover's Handbook of Emerging Companies 2008 This book chronicles the rise of 600 of America's most dynamic growth firms.  It focuses on U.S. companies with revenues between $10 million and $1 billion that have experienced sales growth of at least 15% annually in the past three years and have had positive net income for the last year.  If you are looking for information on the hottest growth companies in the U.S., you will find a wealth of information between these covers.
  • Hoover's Handbook of Private Companies 2008 This handbook includes hard-to-find facts on 900 of the largest and most influential private (nonpublic) enterprises in the U.S. with revenues in excess of $600 million.  The profiles section covers the following:  Organization, Overview, History, Executives, Locations, Products/Operations, Competitors, and Historical Financials.The List-Lover's section includes the 300 Largest Companies by Sales, 300 Largest Employers, 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America and the Forbes Largest Private Companies in the US.
  • Hoover's Handbook of World Business 2008 Advances in technology have made it easier to do business worldwide without leaving home. Many companies are taking advantage of that technology to become global enterprises and powerful forces in world business today.  The 300 companies most directly involved in and affected by these changes are profiled in this 15th edition. The profiles include the same information as other Hoover's Handbooks mentioned above.  The Handbook is indexed by Industry, by Headquarters Location and by Brands, Companies and People Named in the Profiles.   • Hoover's Masterlist of Major U.S. Companies 2001 Provides vital information on more than 5,100 of the largest U.S. public and private companies and other enterprises.  The top 500 are identified on four lists by sales, employees, 5-year sales growth and  market value. Company descriptions include web site address, names of those in leadership positions, contact information, a description of operations and five years of financial history.
  • Hoover's Handbook Index 2001 This index covers the entire Hoover's Handbook series described above.  It indexes all of the companies included in the series by Industry, By Headquarters Location and By Brands, Companies and People Named in the Profiles.
  • Internet Industry Almanac - Copyright 1998 The Almanac includes the following information on this rapidly growing industry: an overview; rankings of top companies, people, products and Web sites; a directory of conferences and trade shows; information on employment, salaries and wealth; international Internet usage; market forecasts; Internet associations and publishers.
