Outgoing Mail
Departmental - Outgoing mail, regardless of class to be charged to a University department, must be bundled, counted, and identified by account number. It must have a mail record form accompanying the US mail only. The top part of the form should be filled out, requiring the date, department, department account number, the number of pieces and an authorized signature. If the envelopes being sent are not sealed they must be placed together with all of their flaps up, rubber banded together with the mail record and then deposit in the slot labeled mail to be metered. Confidential or personal mail should be sealed prior to bringing to the post office. This mail will then be processed in a timely manner before it is picked up by the US Post Office. Pick-up time is 2:30 p.m. Mail submitted without a mailing form will be returned to the appropriate department.
Foreign Mail - Departments can mail international letters and packages through the campus post office. Foreign letters should be submitted separate from U.S. mail. A separate mail record must be filled out. Packages will need a customs declaration filled out by the department. Any personal international mail other than a letter to a foreign destination MUST be submitted at a U.S. Post Office. DO NOT bring packages or catalogs to the Campus Post Office if it has a foreign address as the destination.
Express Mail- is picked up at the campus post office by 2:30 p.m. Supplies and labels are available at the campus post office. Any express must be at the campus post office by 2:30 p.m. for processing. Express mail does not guarantee overnight delivery. The charge is $13.65 up to 8 ounces. The mailing is not insured.
Bulk Mail - is processed by a presort company. Any questions should be directed to the presort company. The bulk mail is picked up at the campus post office. The mailing does not require presorting before pick up A mailing record with the sending departments account number must accompany the mailing, indicating bulk mail on the bottom of the form in large letters.
Personal Mail - postage is sold from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the campus post office window. First class postage is available, as well as certified and foreign letters. Domestic parcels may also be mailed. U.S. mail is collected at 2:30 p.m.
Student Mail - Students may mail letters and parcels at the campus post office, including certified and foreign letters. The campus post office does not mail registered or insured letters, or foreign packages, these must be taken to a U.S. Post Office. If the student wished to send a package UPS, the package must be taken to a valid UPS sender.
Certified Mail- is picked up at 2:30 p.m. with the other mail by the U.S. Postal Service. Certified mail offers a return receipt to inform the sender of its arrival. The price is $2.30 for certified mail giving tracking number and $1.75 for return receipt (shows mailed received). This service is available to all - departments, organization and individuals.
Federal Express- (Fed Ex) is an overnight guaranteed delivery and this mailing is also insured. Your federal express packages must be at the campus post office by 2:30 p.m. for same day pick-up (to allow for processing time). This service is available to departments and organizations with on campus account numbers only.
United Parcel Service - (UPS) picks up packages
from Receiving/Maintenance Department on campus (NOT from the campus
post office). Each department is responsible for packaging/wrapping
their item to be shipped and then either:
1. deliver package to the receiving/maintenance building or
2. deliver to campus post office and receiving will pick it up
there.
UPS picks up packages daily from the receiving building at
approximately 2:30 - 3:00 p.m. You should have your package to the
post office in the morning or deliver it yourself to the receiving
department well before 2:30 p.m. BE SURE to have your department
name and account number on your package. Receiving will charge your
account accordingly for the shipping. UPS packages are insured
automatically up to $100.00 and after that extra insurance and be
purchased for 35 cents per $100.00 of value, up to $50,000.00. This
service is available to departments and organizations with on campus
account numbers only.
Tri-College University- (TCU) mail for the Tri-College University office at North Dakota State University (NDSU) should be addressed as such and NOT to Concordia College or NDSU.
Concordia College or North Dakota State University
- mail for either of these college/university should be addressed to
them individually. DO NOT address the envelope to Tri-College, the
mail will end up in the Tri-College University office. There is no
Tri-College mail to NDSU residence halls.
