PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Performs and assists with
administrative activities
within the HR department
according to the company’s
mission and culture and
meets the goals and
objectives set forth by the
Board and the Executive
Council.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
May interview and pre-screen
candidates and refer
applicants for various
positions along with making
recommendations for final
interviews. Will assist
managers and HR staff with
pre employment background
checks.
Act as liaison between BSE
and various recruiting
sources such as colleges,
technical schools, temporary
employment agencies and
other recruiting sources.
Coordinates the company’s
participation in and attends
various Career Fairs.
Continuously looks for new
opportunities and avenues to
improve our recruitment and
selection process.
Assists with advertising job
openings with sources such
as, but not limited to,
state employment agencies,
colleges, technical schools,
temporary employment
agencies, newspapers or
other industry publications,
various online advertising
resources and BSE’s
website.
Provides administrative
support for various projects
within the department.
Assists with phone support
in answering general HR
questions. May include
involvement with employee
events/functions. Promotes
employee ownership.
Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with all
employees. Acts as a liaison
between employees and
management, as needed.
Assures employee information
is properly stored and
retained. Maintains
confidentiality of the HR
department.
Adheres to BSE’s Mission, Values, Culture, Policies and
Procedures. Performs all
aspects of the job as
accurately and efficiently
as possible while providing
exceptional customer service
at all times. Performs other
duties as assigned by
supervisor or designate.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal candidate will be
working towards a Human
Resources or Business
degree. Knowledge of
business office procedures,
office equipment operation,
and communication systems
would be helpful. Excellent
interpersonal, written and
verbal communication and
customer service skills are
preferred. Prefer working
knowledge of Windows,
Microsoft Office (Excel,
Word, and PowerPoint),
Internet, and Lotus Notes.

This
exciting summer internship
is located in the U.S. Fish
& Wildlife Service’s
Division of Financial
Management in Arlington,
Virginia. The U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service is the
principal Federal agency
responsible for conserving,
protecting, and enhancing
fish, wildlife, plants, and
their habitats for the
continuing benefit of the
American people.
As an
intern within the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service’s
Division of Financial
Management, you will be
working on the Service’s
financial operation and
policies that supports the
Service’s 91-million-acre
National Wildlife Refuge
System (NWRS), which
encompasses 545 National
Wildlife Refuges (NWRs),
thousands of small wetlands,
and other special management
areas. It also operates 69
National Fish Hatcheries, 64
fishery resource offices,
and 81 ecological services
field stations. The agency
enforces Federal wildlife
laws, administers the
Endangered Species Act,
manages migratory bird
populations, restores
nationally significant
fisheries, conserves and
restores wildlife habitat
such as wetlands, and helps
foreign governments with
their conservation efforts.
It also oversees the Federal
Assistance program that
distributes hundreds of
millions of dollars in
excise taxes on fishing and
hunting equipment to state
fish and wildlife agencies.
The
intern performs a variety of
routine financial management
and accounting tasks that
are designed to increase the
intern’s knowledge and
understanding of the
functions of Federal
accounting practices and
provide familiarity with the
policies, procedures, and
practices of financial
management. Duties
typically include the
following:

Examining financial
management documents for
proper accounting
classification and
authorization;

Analyzing a variety of
accounts;

Entering and processing
data into various
accounts and the general
ledger;

Performing special
projects such as data
analysis for trends and
problem areas related to
activity based costing
or financial statement
variances.

Gathering data for
Congressional, Office of
Management and Budget
(OMB), or Department of
Interior requests.
-
Working with the
Service’s external
auditors to coordinate
requests for
information.
To
