Athletic Training Education Program

Mission

The mission of Minnesota State University Moorhead's Athletic Training Education Program is to provide the athletic training student with the essential educational and clinical experiences to qualify as a candidate for the Board of Certification examination.

Program Goals

  1. Graduate with a Bachelors of Science degree in four years.
  2. All athletic training students sit for the BOC examination.
  3. 80% passing percentage on the first attempt at the BOC examination.
  4. Athletic training students complete a variety of clinical experiences.
  5. Encourage scholarship application at the university, state, region, and national level.

Program Objectives

  1. Challenge the athletic training student to develop skills to enhance critical thinking and decision making.
  2. Provide an effective learning environment in the classroom, laboratory, and in clinical experience.
  3. Provide and maintain a productive clinical instruction plan.
  4. Provide exposure to allied health care professionals.
  5. Provide clinical instructors who are knowledgeable regarding athletic training education and are positive enthusiastic mentors and role models.
  6. Encourage the athletic training student to be active in college organizations as well as professional organizations.
  7. Maintain open lines of communication with the athletic training student and respect student feedback.
