Minnesota State Moorhead christened the 2008-09 basketball campaign in style with a 97-77 romp over University of Manitoba on Thursday night at Alex Nemzek Hall. Justyn Burgess scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Dragons while Andrew Van Havermaet, 17, Chuck Anakwenze, 11, and Grant Fossum, 11, reached double figures as well. MSUM and crosstown rival Concordia College tangle next Tuesday in a Power Bowl affair at Concordia College in Moorhead.
